The 1 lesson I learnt so far(CID Lesson)

En Tong:
I had learnt how to use a blog meaningfully and how to decorate a blog to make the blog more interesting so that readers would be tempted to read it. I also learnt more about how to make presentation slides more appealing like using colourful fonts, inserting pictures and a beautiful background. I also learn that a slide shouldn't have too much words if not the reader would not feel interested to read. The scripting part must also be done well to. We can add some fun facts into it and try to use simple words. When we are presenting, we should also have eye contact with the audiences so that they would be more engaged in the presentation.

Qian Yu:
I have learnt a lot of presentation skills from CID. The lessons has taught me how to make slides or our blog itself more appealing to our viewers, adding pictures and vibrant colors to attract people's attention and also it does not bore people who reads our presentation slides or our blog. Decorating the blog has been important as well to get people to read our blog. Using more pictures rather than words is more benefitting as it will be more interesting, after all, people would of course rather look through interesting pictures with vibrant and bright colors than reading a long chunk of text. These skills are important and we can apply them in our life in the future, after finding a job.

Fernanda:
I learnt about making our things more presentable and appealing to the others. For instance, i have learnt to include more pictures on the blog rather than words because it makes the blog more interesting and people would want to read it more. I have also learnt that the design of the blog is also very important as it creates a first impression to the readers. Another example would be the recent cid project when we had to create presentation slides and the slides had to be of standards. Rather than wordy presentation slides, our group decided to write it in point form so that others would not have a tough time reading every single thing off the slides. They could just listen to our oral presentation and feel more comfortable.

Sui Kiat:
I have learnt about how to observe and understand things from different perspectives. This is a very important skill as we always have to take note of how it's like to see things from another point of view and it also helps us correct our perspective due to understanding other viewpoints. This skill will help us go far in life as we can analyze things better and will not jump to conclusions.

Amos:
I have learnt a great deal of presentation skills from CID lessons. First a learnt that our slides must be clear cut and to the point. It must be kept as short as possible so that the auddiendpce will it be bored reading the screen, they would rather listen to us talk. We also learnt that we must speak loudly with confidence. Our slides must have a contrast with the colours. These presentation skills have are important for life as we might use them for job interviews and stuff like that

Qian Yu:
Chinese New Year is a festival celebrated by most Chinese all over the world. Also known as the spring festival, the Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year as it represents the new year on the Chinese Lunar Calendar. During this 15 days, Chinese flock back to their own homes and gather with their family to celebrate this important festival together. The Chinese will wear red and visit their relatives during the days. There are also several practices on Chinese New Year. One traditional example is for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck.

En Tong:
Chinese New Year is a major festival celebrated by most Chinese. They celebrate Chinese New Year since it symbolizes a new year in the lunar calendar, thus the Chinese celebrates it so that they would have luck and would be healthy in the brand new year. The places they mostly visit in Singapore are places like China town and River Hongbao(春到河畔). There are many practices too. For example, the Chinese are not allowed to sweep the floor on the first day of Chinese New Year since it means that the luck and fortune in their home would be swept away. Chinese New Year is a very auspicious festival thus the Chinese treat it very seriously and would always be fully prepared for it.

Fernanda:
Chinese New Year is a festival celebrated by Chinese from all over the world. The most popular colour during this festival is red. It is said that red brings luck to the family and it is a bright colour and therefore it makes Chinese New Year a happier occasion. Red is also said to be an auspicious colour hence red could be seen everywhere during a traditional occasion like this. An example of a symbol for Chinese New Year is the famous inverted 福. Other than that, there are also zodiac signs which changes in order when a new year comes. For example, the zodiac sign this year is 马.

Amos:
Chinese New Year is a time where the Chinese Calender starts a new year. As all Chinese people know, red is the colour for luck and prosperity. We can also see the Chinese character 福 everywhere.

Sui Kiat:
Chinese New Year is the start of a new year for Chinese people and the zodiac will change. Red is the colour for prosperity and success. A symbol we see is normally related to the year which it is. For example as this is the year of the horse, a symbol we see is 马到功成。

4 word challenge(school spirit)

“Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.”

The picture below depicts a scene of the RV school spirit

Entong:
I think that school spirit is very important as it shows how connected and bonded we are as a school. The school spirit would also make everyone feel that they are in this big and caring family, RV family. The RV school spirit being showed made the parade a even more enjoyable and memorable one, since it was very heart warming. We should not be just bonded as a class, but also as a school, since we would be in this RV family for 6 years, probably even after the 6 years.
Fernanda:
I think that school spirit is something essential to keep the school life fun and interesting. Cheering for one another at times as a school shows how bonded the school is and how much fun everyone is going through. I personally think that RV has a lot of school spirit, and with this school spirit, it never fails to make events more hyped up and exciting. It drives us and act as a motivator to include us in all the activities.
Qianyu:
I think that school spirit is important for a school and it paints colors in our usually dull school life. Having school spirit, cheering each other on is especially essential during school events. Having school spirits allows us to enjoy the events with our friends a lot more. I believe that RVians who attended the 2014 Chingay parade showed more than enough school spirit, and the parade was a huge success. In RV, the RV spirit is also overflowing as shown from activities planned by our very own student counsel. RV is a extremely bonded a school. It is heartwarming to see and also to think that this RV spirit will be carried on for 10 years, 20 years and longer, after we graduate as our juniors will also take on the RV spirit. All in all, I believe that school spirit is important to the student body and in fact the whole school for our learning experiences to be fun. The Chingay Parade was a success and I definitely gained a lot from the parade!
Amos:
School spirit is a very important part of school life especially life in RV as is bonds us to together. As we are a IP school, it means that we will be together with each other for 6 years and as such, having a strong school spirit brings us together as one body. Imagine how cool will it be if you hear 2500 students cheering and supporting for our school. When other schools see our school spirit, they will look at us as a formidable opponent(competition) or a very bonded school. It shows that we are one BIG RV FAMILY and no one will ever be left behind.
Sui kiat:
I think that school spirit is required for the school to function as a whole and for everyone to enjoy the process. This is how we are part of one big rv family and that none of us are left behind. We should all be bonded to make events more fun and enjoyable.
